+ Third Wave Power

Third Wave Power aims to empower people around the world by improving lives and increasing productivity. By combining solar energy with innovative technology and features, we create portable power solutions that are essential for work and life, on or off the power grid. Third Wave Power’s renewable power solutions are used in field work, emergency back-up situations, outdoor and rural environments the world over, bringing power to people where it matters and is needed most. Solar and IoT (Internet of things) are two strong trends and the two are interconnected. As Solar goes mainstream and off grid IoT technologies advance, it will create next wave of smart products. Third Wave Power has been working on IoT connectivity solutions for years, and by adding these to its solar products aims to create smart solar power solutions for off grid consumers. At the same time smart city IoT solutions being deployed in developed countries with adequate grid, need solar power for outdoor applications. Third Wave Power is emerging as a pioneer bringing solar and IoT together.

About Speakers

Greg Blackwood-Lee
Advisory Council Member
Gerson Lehrman Group

A serial entrepreneur (with 2 successful exits so far) and angel investor. He served as the mentor for PeoplePods, the winner of both the First Prize and Social Impact Award at the 35th INSEAD Venture Competition (2017); and currently serves as the Singapore campus advisor to the INSEAD MBA Impact Investing Network & Training (MIINT) team, which beat out other top business schools to win the global MIINT competition in 2017. Formerly a professional VC/PE investor (both early stage and growth) and quantitative analyst.

His many years of experience in Asia (17 years in Singapore, Japan, China & Thailand) in less "techie" fields such as logistics, B2B service provision, and energy / infrastructure have led to an interest in social impact initiatives across emerging markets in the region. He is currently the President of the INSEAD Social Impact Alumni Global Club (INDEVOR for alumni).

Mr. Blackwood-Lee has published 6 INSEAD PE/VC business cases over the years (and authored upwards of 10), many of which are taught globally and one of which is featured in Prof. Claudia Zeisberger's GPEI volume "Private Equity in Action: Case Studies from Developed and Emerging Markets".
