Thanks for reading about 6degrees. 6degrees is a connected, always-up-to-date phonebook that lets you find people on friends' phonebooks, with their permission, and get introduced through them. 6degrees already has over 100,000 active users in 6 months, is part-funded by the Singapore government, and has won several awards including being in the global top-10 at Seedstars World in Geneva. 6degrees has been chosen by India's 2nd-largest smartphone maker Lava as the default, native phonebook on their phones going forward - the first time a startup has penetrated this deep into the smartphone architecture.
We started 6degrees because we felt that the phonebook is our original social network containing our entire universe of relationships, and that creating a private, trust-based network of phonebooks would be valuable to people. We're looking for someone who believes in our concept, and wants to work with us as a friend first, employee later. That's our promise.
A lot of our success so far should be attributed to our work environment, which focuses on freedom, innovation and problem-solving above other things. Our developers are our friends, not employees. We've always felt that for young developers, domain experience or knowledge of specific tech platforms is secondary, while collaborative work skills and a cheerful attitude are more important. We are looking to expand our core team by adding young engineers with outstanding minds who love computers and technology, and have a voracious appetite for thinking about solutions to problems.
Experience with Graph databases, reactive programming and Asynchronous server modules (Vertx etc) is a big plus.
