PHP Developer

What You Will Be Doing

Cybersprout is looking for an innovative, full-time, on-site PHP programmer to join our team. Duties
would primarily consist of developing and maintaining custom web applications built using Magento,
writing extensions, architecting new PHP projects.
Candidates should be a self-motivated developer, who can collaborate with team members, extremely
competent, with the ability to work on multiple projects within a fast-paced environment. Applicants will
be expected to provide examples of work, if available, and may be asked to complete a coding challenge.

What You Need for this Position

- 5+ years’ experience as a Web Developer in ecommerce
- 5+ years’ experience with PHP and JavaScript (jQuery/Prototype/NodeJS)
- 5+ years’ experience with MySQL / relational databases
- 5+ years’ experience with HTML / CSS
- 3+ years’ experience with Ubuntu/Debian/Redhat
- 3+ years using source control systems (SVN/GIT)

Job Responsibilities

 Work with team to continue to design and develop a PHP Ecommerce platform based on Magento
 Perform code reviews and keep the source code under control in Git;
 Deploy applications in Linux environments with provisioning tools like Vagrant and Chef, and have
knowledge of basic Linux server administration;
 Create code that may persist for the lifetime of a software version;
 Participate in architecture discussions, propose and discuss solutions to system and product changes
that are directly related to your area of focus;
 Writing technical software requirements;
 Fixing bugs and addition of upgrades to the front and back-end;
 Implement and monitor third party scripts, software or extensions;
 Candidate will also need to be prepared to help junior and mid-level developers;
 Work closely with online marketing team to upgrade website and integrate with marketing
requirements;
 Identify, recommend and implement future functionality that will benefit all parts of the business.
Required Skills
 Proactive individual with the ability to work on his/her own as well as part of a team; understands the
requirements of working in small, entrepreneurial company;
 Candidate must have strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with excellent organizational skills and
ability to prioritize;
 Candidate must be team oriented and work well as part of a larger group. The candidate must display
excellent communication skills including both written and verbal;
 Candidate must have excellent understanding of browser capabilities and issues;
 Highly organized and detail-oriented multi-tasker with a strong sense of ownership of process and
results;
 Ability to document clean and well commented code;
 Experience in working with online payment solutions/ gateways is a plus;
 Magento experience is a plus;
 Be fluent speaking and writing in English.
