Maria Ressa has been a journalist in Asia for nearly 35 years. As Rappler's co-founder, executive editor and CEO, she has endured constant political harassment and arrests by the Duterte government. For her courage and work on disinformation and 'fake news,' Maria was awarded the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize, named Time Magazine’s 2018 Person of the Year, was among its 100 Most Influential People of 2019, and has also been named one of Time's Most Influential Women of the Century. She’s a nominee for the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize and is a co-founder of The Real Facebook Oversight Board. She was also part of BBC's 100 most inspiring and influential women of 2019 and Prospect magazine's world's top 50 thinkers, and has won many awards for her contributions to journalism and human rights. Before founding Rappler, Maria focused on investigating terrorism in Southeast Asia. She opened and ran CNN's Manila Bureau for nearly a decade before opening the network's Jakarta Bureau, which she ran from 1995 to 2005. She wrote Seeds of Terror: An Eyewitness Account of al-Qaeda’s Newest Center of Operations in Southeast Asia and From Bin Laden to Facebook: 10 Days of Abduction, 10 Years of Terrorism.
Jesse Draper is a mother of 3 boys, founding partner of Halogen Ventures as well as creator and host of Emmy nominated television series, The Valley Girl Show. Draper is a 4th generation venture capitalist focused on early stage investing in consumer technology companies led by female and co-ed teams. Among her 65 portfolio companies are the Skimm, Carbon38, HopSkipDrive, The Flex Company, Squad (acquired by Twitter), Eloquii (sold to Walmart) and This is L (sold to P&G). She stars on SET's television series Meet the Draper's currently in it's fourth season. Draper was listed by Marie Claire magazine as one of the ‘50 Most Connected Women in America’. Draper has been a contributor to Marie Claire, Mashable, Forbes, and is a regular investor and tech personality on shows including TLC’s Girl Starter, The Katie Couric Show, Fox’s Good Day LA, CNBC’s Who Wants to Be the Next Millionaire Inventor? & Freeform’s Startup U.
She proudly sits on the board of directors of Carbon38, Trust & Will, Preemadonna (creator of the Nailbot) and the non-profit boards Bizworld and Project Glimmer. Draper supports the Parkinson’s Institute and is very involved with growing UCLA’s female entrepreneurship community.
Esther Wojcicki is famous for three things: teaching a high school class that has changed the lives of thousands of kids, inspiring Silicon Valley legends like Steve Jobs, and raising three daughters who have each become famously successful. What do these three accomplishments have in common? They are the result of TRICK, Esther’s secret to raising successful people: Trust, Respect, Independence, Collaboration, and Kindness. Simple lessons, but the results are radical. Esther Wojcicki is a leading American educator and journalist. Mother of YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki, Fulbright scholar Janet Wojcicki, and 23&Me founder Anne Wojcicki, as well as a teacher and mentor to James Franco and Lisa Brennan-Jobs, Esther is widely heralded as the most successful parent and educator in the United States. She is the Co-Founder of Tract.app with her former student Ari Memar, who is the CEO. She is the author of bestseller, How to Raise Successful People (2019) translated into 24 languages and Moonshots in Education (2015)
Kane Lim is one of the hottest and most in demand breakout stars of Netflix series ‘Bling Empire’ and is the only cast member from Singapore. With an appetite for high fashion brands, his Instagram feed is flooded with photos of extravagant clothes, bags, and watches.
As real estate developer, investor, and philanthropist, and has keen interest in all things beauty, fashion and skincare- even having partnered with the hottest celebrity brands like Fenty and Gentle Monster. His flamboyant yet edgy style earns him a spot as one of the up and coming stylish figures to watch.
Jessica Espinoza is Vice President for Private Equity & Venture Capital Investments at DEG, the German Development Finance Institution (KfW Group) and the Chair of the 2X Challenge, a global initiative that has mobilized over $11 billion of gender lens investments since its launch at the G7 Summit in 2018. She is founding member and Co-Chair of the 2X Collaborative, a global industry body for gender lens investing convening the entire spectrum of capital providers.
Jessica serves on the Board of Directors of AlphaMundi Foundation and of the Mexican financial institution Mega as well as on the Advisory Board of several private equity funds. As a mentor for Endeavor, she supports high impact companies as they scale up. Jessica is the Founder of XOCO, an edtech venture empowering adolescent girls in the Global South and a fellow at Columbia eLab. She is a PhD candidate at University of Siegen, researching the transformative potential of gender lens investing.
Prior to joining DEG, Jessica was a Member of the Management Board at ProCredit Bank Nicaragua and part of the Group Funding team at ProCredit Holding. She managed the Africa Regional Office of MicroFinance Transparency in Ghana and led a flagship program to promote responsible finance across Sub-Saharan Africa and Latin America.
Kelly Mi Li is a Chinese American serial entrepreneur, film producer, and investor. She is notably known as the executive producer and star of Bling Empire on Netflix and executive producer of Cypher, an FBI decoding series available on Roku, as well as Michael Shannon's crime drama, Echo Boomers. Currently, Kelly has five more projects in the pipeline to be shot in 2021 under her new production company, Wet Paws Media. Kelly is a devoted philanthropist and has sat on the board of many non-profit organizations, such as Prince Harry's Well Child and UNICEF CCI.
